MATH REFLECTION
3 things I learned:
One thing I learned was that money was extremely important in our lives. Without money, I realized that it was extremely impossible to rent a house or get food to eat, since they were all pretty expensive. I was really thankful for what my parents are providing with me, and the things that I am able to possess. Another thing that I learned was buying a car isn't a wise choice especially if you don't even have kids and you don't travel long distances. Public transportation or bicycles seemed to be the best way to get around. Although we may buy a car that was used with a decent price, taking care of it would be a big problem too. Since it isn't new, you never know when it will break or something will go wrong, so you will have constantly take your car to the repair center and get it checked, just to be safe. Gas prices are high too, since gas is a limited resource. However, public transportation requires only a small amount of money. All you have to do is just buy a yearly pass for the subway or bus if you think you are going to use it often, or just buy a one-time pass every time you use it if you think you aren't going to use it often. It's also environmental friendly because you are car-pooling with other people. The third thing that I learned was that I should study harder in order to get a decent job with a decent payment. When I chose my job from the hat, I was lucky enough to get the job of a computer engineer with a payment of $92,000 per year. So I had a lot of money that I could save, liquefy, and donate. However, some people didn't get to save or donate much because of the high rent and tax prices despite the low income. I realized that a good job is critical if you want to live a decent life, and that I will only get a good job if I graduate from a good college and perform well.
Synopsis:
We were all given a job and an annual salary for this project. Then, we had to choose what country we wanted to live in, and what house we wanted to live in. Also, we needed to subtract all of the expenses of our needs or wants, such as a car, clothes, insurances, rent, taxes, etc. After we organized our expenses on a spreadsheet, we needed to create a pie chart and make a presentation based on the spreadsheet. On the first day of presentations, everyone brought food from their country for the whole class to enjoy. By doing this project, I realized the importance of money and how hard I had to work in order to enroll in a good college to get a good job and have enough money to life a happy life and also, provide a happy life for my future children. And once again, I thanked my parents for being wonderful parents to send me to an extremely expensive school and provide all that money for my education and wants.
